What It Means to Be Proactiv

Proactiv is committed to a proactive response to acne. They have found that their three-step system is effective at not only clearing current acne breakouts, but at preventing future breakouts.

How to Be Proactiv

When it comes to acne, being proactive is easier than fighting acne flare-ups when they happen. Start by making the Proactiv three-step system a daily part of your beauty routine. Wash your face in the morning and evening with the Renewing Cleanser. The tiny exfoliating beads will gently remove dirt, excess oil, and dead skin cells from your skin. If you wash your face in the shower, simply massage a small amount of cleanser into your skin for a minute, then rinse with warm water.

After stepping out of the shower, or after washing your face in the evening, pat your skin dry and then apply Proactiv’s Revitalizing Toner with a pad or cotton ball. The toner helps to soothe the skin, remove additional impurities, and balance your skin tone.

Allow the toner a few minutes to dry, then apply the Repairing Treatment. This last step is a light-weight medicated lotion that penetrates deep into your pores.  Unlike other moisturizers, it’s oil free and will not contribute to your skin’s oil production. Allow the lotion to dry on your face as you continue with your beauty routine.

Once the lotion is dry, you can apply sunscreen and makeup, or if using in the evening, go to bed knowing that your skin is clean. The acne-causing bacteria that normally reside on the skin will not have a chance to breed if you wash your face in the morning and evening with an effective treatment like Proactiv.

Effective Acne Treatment Takes Time

Unlike teen acne remedies you may have seen advertised on TV, Proactiv does not promise instant results. The instant remedies are often harsh and may actually cause irritation. Instead, you should allow Proactiv more time to work before you expect results. Most users see initial clearing of the skin within a few weeks, but it can take as long as a few months to see completely clear skin with minimal, if any, flare-ups.

If you do need spot treatments in the meantime, consider using a Proactiv spot treatment because it has been formulated to work with Proactiv and not cause irritation. If you don’t see results after a few months, you should investigate whether your sunscreen, moisturizer, or makeup may be aggravating your acne. Consider trying a noncomedogenic product, such as one from Proactiv’s member product line, to see if that resolves the problem.
